Ten Unique Father’s Day Gifts…The 2019 Version
In reviewing my archives, I realized that I’ve written a version of this post for the past two years and that’s not a bad thing, especially for my father. For you see, in researching these articles, I’ve located gifts that my father has truly enjoyed, from a gizmo that helps him (and mom) roll his toothpaste tube from the bottom up to an “Evolution of the Bicycle” framed poster (once upon a time, he was a professional racer back in England). And, I’m proud to say, I located this year’s gift among the ten listed below. I’ll reveal which one I chose in my closing paragraph…no jumping ahead to discover what it is!
- (sorta) Mismatched Socks
and I say “sorta” because they’re mismatched yet connected, such as a pair that has bacon on one and eggs on the other. I’ve recently discovered the joys of embarrassing my two teen-aged sons with the things I wear, and this will certainly accomplish that goal. Pick your dad’s pair here. - Furbo (treat tossing) Dog Camera
Since a dog is man’s best friend, this little canine gem permits your dad to, not only spy on his best friend, but to take pics of him/her and toss treats to Fido as well. It also can alert dad when Fido is barking, bouncing on the furniture, or chewing his shoes and then yell at him to stop with its two-communication feature. Dad jokes are the worst…and the best. “Never trust anyone with graph paper. They’re always plotting something.” See what I mean? This calendar gives dear ‘ole dad 365 bad dad jokes with which to annoy mom, the kids, friends, random strangers at the gun range, etc. Roll your eyes at the sample jokes here:. - A Salami Bouquet
Yes, just like you gave mom a bouquet of spring flowers on her day, you can give your dad a bouquet of…salted, cured meat on his. Stop and smell the roses…I mean the salami, here. - Bottleloft
Here’s this year’s alcohol related gift idea as every Father’s Day gift list MUST have at least one idea linked to alcohol. This space saving gift allows your dad to hang bottles of his favorite beer from the ceiling of the fridge with magnetic strips. Check out this gift that will please mom also here. - Nomad Turntable
OK, maybe I’m looking for the gifts I wish my sons would get me, because this one certainly qualifies. Since dads tend to be, well, old, they fondly remember the world of music prior to cassettes, CDs, and, certainly, iTunes and Spotify. They remember the feel and sound of music you could hold in your hands…vinyl. And if they own a vinyl record collection, they need something to play Dark Side of the Moon and the White Album on and here it is. - Portable Device Charger
Compact and fast (probably what your dad once was), this portable charger fits just about anywhere and allows your tech savvy father to charge his phone anywhere to stay in touch with the kids, to include you. Pick it up here. - Huckberry Everyday Backpack
Yeah, I know, this seems a bit pricey for a backpack, but if you have a hipster (or wanna-be hipster) dad, this is well worth the price. Weatherproof with adjustable and removable internal dividers, this backpack can be configured to carry just about anything and everything. The magnetic closures are cool too. Strap one on here. - Oral-B Rechargeable Smartbrush
For the dad that likes tech toys, this electric toothbrush compiles brushing data and then makes suggestions on how dad can become a better brusher. Who knew brushing could be fun? Learn how to fight gingivitis here. - Suede Sneakers from Vans
OK, I admit that this idea was inspired by the Netflix makeover show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy in which five gay men provide makeovers for hopelessly uncool straight men. These versatile shoes can be worn with just about everything, from jeans to a business casual suit. Bring your dad into the world of hip fashion here.
Why be boring? There’s gotta be something in the above list that your dad will love. And the item that I know my dad is just gonna love is the turntable. For you see, he has a collection of classical and folk LPs collecting dust in the basement. He’s just too cheap to go out and buy a new turntable after his last one bit the dust, like, 12 years ago.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the MagicKitchen.com Father’s Day Meal Gift. Dad didn’t get that one this year, but he sure did love it in past years!
